it can be used in ANTI-HYPERTENSIVE treatment (often combined with a DIURETIC or BETA-BLOCKER) and is administered in the form of tablets. It can also be used, as a lotion, to treat male pattern baldness in men and women. Possible side effects : There are gastrointestestinal disturbances and weight gain ; there may also be fluid retention, a rise in the heart rate and breast tenderness. When administered topically there may be dermatitis and itching. WARNING it should not be admininistered to patients with phaeochromocytoma or porphyria.Administered with care to those who are pregnant, or have certain heart disorders.
